Good evening all Pack 515 Cubs and Parents:

I am pleased to report that we had (14) Cubs present today at Holy Cross, representing our Pack to the Chartered Organization in unprecedented numbers. The congregation was very thrilled to see all of our boys in uniform.

I have heard from some of you who attended your personal faith facilities and I wish to thank you again for taking part in such a great day for our Cubs.

If you took part in today’s events, and have not reported in, please do so by Tuesday, February 7th, to receive credit.

Thank you!

Dear Cub Families:

Scout Sunday is this Sunday, February 5th. Please take a moment and consider attending your personal religious facility to take part in this national day of reverence and Scouting. Inquire at your facility if they plan to conduct this recognition portion for the Cubs present.

Our Chartered Organization, Holy Cross, will be offering a small recognition ceremony for our Cubs at the 10am service. All are welcome to attend. It is a great way to show our appreciation to the congregation for the support they offer our boys.

The uniform for Scout Sunday is Class A, but NO HAT.

Thank you!

OK...this is the last nagging email from me about April camping.

There are only 3 sites open as of tonight.

If you want to join us...please book now.

This is a more "laid back" camping trip....so come and just relax and enjoy being outdoors with your family and scout friends.

Plus...it is only 45 minutes away!  :-)

Hello everyone....there are now only 5 sites left on the loop at Hillsborough River State Park for the weekend of April 20-22.

This park is only about 45 minutes away...right down I-4.

If you are planning on camping and have not booked a site....please do so ASAP.

If you have already booked a site...please let me know.  I have only heard from ONE person since pinewood derby....so I am assuming the other 14 sites that were still available that day have been booked by "random" people and not Pack 515.

All - as a reminder, Legoland is hosting Scout Day tomorrow to acknowledge Scouting and they are hosting an awards ceremony for Scouts who sold $1000+ in Popcorn for the Council last year. Show your Pack 515 pride by wearing your Class B T-Shirt - but leave your hat at home. (This will save you having to hold it for your Cub on the rollercoaster).

Unfortunately, discount event tickets are no longer available, however, you can use your Annual Pass to attend.

Have a great time!

Good morning -

Anyone that is interested in participating in Saturday's Dundee Christmas Parade is to meet at the Winn Dixie parking lot about 9:30 am.  VHA (Veterinary Health Assoc.) is sponsoring the parade and you are encouraged to bring your pets on a leash to march in the parade.  They may have some extra pets that need walking if you don't have one and would like to walk one.  Please see Mr. Sarasin when you get there if you need a pet to walk.  You can also just simply walk the route without a pet, too, as many will be doing that.  Some parents can ride ahead and meet up at the park on Dundee main street where the parade will end to help get people back to Winn Dixie to pick up cars.

Hello -

Just a few reminders for tomorrow -

As the last official meeting of 2011, our Pack has a very busy day. We have our poinsettia handout (we have had a very poor response on this - please contact Scott Barr if you can assist), Space Derby setup, operation and removal, dues collection, t-shirt sales and Christmas Party duties where will be serving the boys pizza, drinks and dessert at the Space Derby @ 130pm. Please take a moment to offer your assistance. Your Leadership is already working on two assisgnments per person, so we will need help to make this a memorable event.

If you can help with:

Poinsettias: contact Scott Barr (863) 528-3234 o barrnoneenterprises@gmail.com

Space Derby: contact Scott Kirkland (863) 221-3346 or skirk515@msn.com

Christmas Party: contact Lori Houmard (863) 557-4893 or lori.houmard@polk-fl.net

OTHER NOTES:

1. If your Cub used the prop pin contained in the Space Derby kit, you should seriously consider using the new pin supplied to you by your Den leader. The BSA kit pin is insufficient and could break when we wind the rubber bands. If you have any questions, please see any uniformed Leader for assistance. If you need assistance with replacing your pin, please plan to arrive at 11am to complete this task. The closer we get to our 1pm race time, the less chance Leadership has to help you.

2. Our 2012 Pack and BSA dues are due at the Space Derby event. These must be paid prior to racing your rocket. If you plan to remain within our Pack family for 2012 and have not paid, and DO NOT plan to attend on Saturday, please……

1. Send me a reply Email me RIGHT NOW

-and-

2. Mail two checks ($45 to "PACK 515" and $15 to "BSA") to:

Our cutoff for Pack and BSA dues to pay in-person is Saturday, 3-DEC.

Hello to all,

I hope everyone is ready for the Space Derby, I know Dylan is.  As you all know it is also our poinsettia distribution day, from 9a.m to 12 p.m.  Poinsettia's are being delivered to COLE at 5:30 a.m. Yes, I know that is way too early to get plants but it is the only time they could deliver them.  I only need one or two people to help with unloading and staging plants, this means meeting me at COLE by 5:20(Can anyone bring coffee and donuts please?). Otherwise, if you would respond with a time frame suitable for you to help with distribution.  We do not need everybody to help for the entire time, but more like in shifts. 9-10; 10-11; 11-12.

At 8:45 we need to have around six to ten adults and the same number of scouts in class B uniforms to help pass the plants out.  The first hour should be the busiest, with the majority of the plants being picked up by scout parents.  There are less than 100 orders to be picked up by customers.  This should be a fairly painless experience.

Our set up will be like a drive through, using the pick up/drop off area of the school.  I have a signature sheet and we can have the boys pass out plants or help with loading of trays into cars.  I believe this will work best.

For those of you who are picking up and delivering plants to customers.  Please do not get your plants just before space derby and leave them in your car, this might kill them.  If they are in a closed car or trunk, for even just an hour in the sun, could possibly damage the plants.  We are just not going to have the time or capability to pass them out after the derby.

Thank you all for your time and help.

Sincerely,

Scott G. Barr

December 10th we have been asked to walk in the Dundee parade with VHA (veterinary health associates). Please bring your dogs on leashes to help us. This is a lot of fun for the kids to do and it helps promote the scouts and helps VHA as well. Karen did this last year and really enjoyed it. If you don't have a dog don't worry I am sure we can find one for you to walk with in the parade:) We will meet at the Winn Dixie in Dundee at about 9:30 and parade starts at 10:00. We should be done no later than 12:30 possibly even before. This is another service project for us to do and the boys will have a lot of fun doing it!  (Full Class A Uniform)  If you still need credit for a Service Project for Citizen, this will be an easy way to get it.

December 17th, the St John's church has asked us to help them with their Children of the Night program. The boys and any adults that would be willing to come and help would help by giving out presents to under privileged kids, handing out candy canes and possibly even help parents shop for their kids in the shop that the church has set up for them for the holiday's. This one would be from 11-4 or anytime that you have available. My family and I will be at both as they both have invited both girl and cub scouts to come and help.  (Full Class A Uniform)

Please let me know if you will be able to attend either or both of these as I do need a head count as soon as I can.  I understand you all are busy but it's good to give to others, even if it's just our time.

I've also enclosed a couple flyers for events that St. John's is putting on if your interested in any of them, please contact the Church directly.

To all who are coming to the bamboo harvest please read the following:

Wear clothes appropriate for getting dirty.  We are working outdoors and expect to get a little dirty.  DO NOT wear your class a or class b uniforms, we do not want anyone to ruin their uniforms.

Adults using power tools please bring eye protection.

If you have gloves, bring them.

If you have pruning tools, bring them.

We will have water and bug spray for everyone.

There will be pizza after for lunch.
